Frequency Patterns

Reference frequency generators

Radio frequency signals used in this complex are obtained from other signal generated by some patterns of very high stability, atomic type. Hydrogen masers and generators based on cesium-133, stand out among other. This last one has a new pattern incorporated, composed by a linear ion trap of mercury (LITS, or “Linear ion trap Standard”).

In the case of the hydrogen maser, stability is of the order of 10 to the power minus 14; for the cesium pattern the stability is lower, and the LITS is hoped to overcome a hydrogen maser in one or two orders of magnitude. The atomic clocks of the complex, driven by the hydrogen maser, guarantee stability better than one second in a million years.
