Un ingrediente familiar ha estado escondido a plena vista en la superficie de la luna Europa de Júpiter. Usando análisis espectrales en luz visible, científicos planetarios de Caltech y del Laboratorio de Propulsión a Chorro de la NASA en Pasadena, California, han descubierto que el color amarillo visible en partes de la superficie de Europa es, de hecho, cloruro de sodio, un compuesto conocido en la Tierra como sal de mesa, que es el principal componente de la sal marina.
