Para avanzar en nuestra b\u00fasqueda de los componentes b\u00e1sicos de la vida, la misi\u00f3n Dragonfly efectuar\u00e1 m\u00faltiples salidas para tomar muestras y examinar lugares alrededor de la luna helada de Saturno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dragonfly despegar\u00e1 en 2026 y llegar\u00e1 a Saturno en 2034. El helic\u00f3ptero volar\u00e1 a docenas de lugares prometedores de Tit\u00e1n en busca de procesos qu\u00edmicos prebi\u00f3ticos comunes tanto en Tit\u00e1n como en la Tierra. Es la primera vez que la NASA volar\u00e1 un veh\u00edculo multirrotor con fines cient\u00edficos en otro planeta; tiene ocho rotores y vuela como un gran dron. Aprovechar\u00e1 la densa atm\u00f3sfera de Tit\u00e1n -cuatro veces m\u00e1s densa que la de la Tierra- para convertirse en el primer veh\u00edculo que vuele con toda su carga \u00fatil cient\u00edfica a nuevos lugares para acceder a los materiales de la superficie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tit\u00e1n puede proporcionar pistas sobre c\u00f3mo pudo surgir la vida en nuestro planeta. Dragonfly explorar\u00e1 diversos entornos, desde dunas org\u00e1nicas hasta el suelo de un cr\u00e1ter de impacto, donde el agua l\u00edquida y los complejos materiales org\u00e1nicos clave para la vida coexistieron durante decenas de miles de a\u00f1os. Sus instrumentos estudiar\u00e1n hasta qu\u00e9 punto puede haber progresado la qu\u00edmica prebi\u00f3tica. Tambi\u00e9n investigar\u00e1n las propiedades atmosf\u00e9ricas y superficiales de la Luna, as\u00ed como sus dep\u00f3sitos l\u00edquidos y oce\u00e1nicos subsuperficiales. Adem\u00e1s, los instrumentos buscar\u00e1n pruebas qu\u00edmicas de vida pasada o presente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Est\u00e1 previsto que primero aterrice en los campos de dunas ecuatoriales \u00abShangri-La\u00bb, que son similares a las dunas lineales de Namibia, en el sur de \u00c1frica, y ofrecen un lugar de muestreo diverso. Explorar\u00e1 esta regi\u00f3n en vuelos cortos y otros m\u00e1s largos, de hasta 8 km, deteni\u00e9ndose para tomar muestras. Finalmente, llegar\u00e1 al cr\u00e1ter de impacto Selk, donde hay indicios de la existencia de agua l\u00edquida, materia org\u00e1nica (mol\u00e9culas complejas que contienen carbono, combinado con hidr\u00f3geno, ox\u00edgeno y nitr\u00f3geno) y energ\u00eda, que juntos constituyen la receta para la vida. El m\u00f3dulo de aterrizaje recorrer\u00e1 m\u00e1s de 175 kil\u00f3metros, casi el doble de la distancia recorrida hasta la fecha por todos los exploradores de Marte juntos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tit\u00e1n es mayor que el planeta Mercurio y es la segunda luna m\u00e1s grande de nuestro sistema solar. Mientras orbita alrededor de Saturno, se encuentra a unos 1.400 millones de kil\u00f3metros del Sol, unas 10 veces m\u00e1s lejos que la Tierra. Al estar tan lejos del Sol, la temperatura de su superficie es de unos -290 grados Fahrenheit (-179 grados Celsius). Adem\u00e1s, su presi\u00f3n superficial es un 50% superior a la de la Tierra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dragonfly fue seleccionada como parte del programa Nuevas Fronteras (New Frontiers) de la Agencia, que incluye la misi\u00f3n New Horizons a Plut\u00f3n y el Cintur\u00f3n de Kuiper, Juno a J\u00fapiter y OSIRIS-REx al asteroide Bennu. Dragonfly est\u00e1 dirigida por la investigadora principal Elizabeth Turtle, que trabaja en el Laboratorio de F\u00edsica Aplicada (APL) de la Universidad Johns Hopkins, en Laurel (Maryland).
