{"id":13171,"date":"2022-09-13T13:56:09","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T11:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdscc.nasa.gov\/?p=13171"},"modified":"2022-09-13T13:56:29","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T11:56:29","slug":"midiendo-los-tiempos-de-una-supernova","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mdscc.nasa.gov\/index.php\/2022\/09\/13\/midiendo-los-tiempos-de-una-supernova\/","title":{"rendered":"Midiendo los tiempos de una supernova"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Al estudiar el <a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/xray_sources\/supernovas.html\">remanente de una supernova <\/a>en una galaxia vecina, los astr\u00f3nomos, utilizando telescopios de la NASA, han encontrado suficientes datos para ayudar a retroceder el reloj astron\u00f3mico.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si bien los astr\u00f3nomos han visto los restos de decenas de estrellas explotadas en la V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea y galaxias cercanas, a menudo es dif\u00edcil determinar la l\u00ednea de tiempo en la desaparici\u00f3n de la estrella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El remanente de supernova llamado SNR 0519-69.0 (SNR 0519 para abreviar) son los restos de la explosi\u00f3n de una <a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/resources\/glossaryWXZ.html\">estrella enana blanca<\/a>. Despu\u00e9s de alcanzar una masa cr\u00edtica, ya sea extrayendo materia de una estrella compa\u00f1era o fusion\u00e1ndose con otra enana blanca, la estrella sufri\u00f3 una explosi\u00f3n termonuclear y se destruy\u00f3. Los cient\u00edficos usan este tipo de supernova, llamada <a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/xray_sources\/supernovas.html\">Tipo Ia<\/a>, para una amplia gama de estudios cient\u00edficos que van desde estudios de explosiones termonucleares hasta la medici\u00f3n de distancias a galaxias a lo largo de miles de millones de a\u00f1os luz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SNR 0519 se encuentra en la Gran Nube de Magallanes, una peque\u00f1a galaxia a 160.000 a\u00f1os luz de la Tierra. La imagen se ha compuesto usando <a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/xray_astro\/xrays.html\">datos de rayos X<\/a> del <a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/about\/\">Observatorio de rayos X Chandra<\/a> de la NASA y<a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/resources\/em_radiation.html\"> datos \u00f3pticos <\/a>del Telescopio Espacial Hubble de la NASA. Los rayos X de SNR 0519 con energ\u00edas baja, media y alta se muestran en verde, azul y p\u00farpura respectivamente, y algunos de estos colores se superponen para aparecer en blanco. Los datos \u00f3pticos muestran el per\u00edmetro del remanente en rojo y las estrellas alrededor del remanente en blanco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los astr\u00f3nomos combinaron los datos de Chandra y del Hubble con datos del <a href=\"https:\/\/chandra.si.edu\/resources\/glossaryS.html\">telescopio espacial Spitzer <\/a>(ya retirado) de la NASA para determinar cu\u00e1nto tiempo hace que explot\u00f3 la estrella en SNR 0519 y aprender sobre el entorno en el que ocurri\u00f3 la supernova. Estos datos brindan a los cient\u00edficos la oportunidad de \u00abrebobinar\u00bb la pel\u00edcula de la evoluci\u00f3n estelar que se ha desarrollado desde entonces y averiguar cu\u00e1ndo comenz\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los investigadores compararon im\u00e1genes del Hubble de 2010, 2011 y 2020 para medir las velocidades del material en la onda expansiva de la explosi\u00f3n, que oscilan aproximadamente entre 6 millones y 9 millones de kil\u00f3metros por hora. Si la velocidad estaba en el extremo superior de ese rango estimado, los astr\u00f3nomos determinaron que la luz de la explosi\u00f3n habr\u00eda llegado a la Tierra hace unos 670 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sin embargo, es probable que el material se haya ralentizado desde la explosi\u00f3n inicial y que la explosi\u00f3n haya ocurrido hace m\u00e1s de 670 a\u00f1os. Los datos de Chandra y Spitzer indican que este podr\u00eda ser el caso. Los astr\u00f3nomos encontraron que las regiones m\u00e1s brillantes en rayos X del remanente son donde se encuentra el material que se mueve m\u00e1s lentamente, y no hay ninguna emisi\u00f3n de rayos X asociada con el material que se mueve m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estos resultados implican que parte de la onda expansiva se estrell\u00f3 contra el gas denso colindante al remanente, lo que provoc\u00f3 que se ralentizara a medida que viajaba.
