Estas m\u00e1scaras permitir\u00e1n que los cient\u00edficos puedan detectar exoplanetas directamente, as\u00ed como estudiar los discos de polvo alrededor de sus estrellas anfitrionas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Junto con los otros tres instrumentos del Webb, el MIRI inicialmente se enfri\u00f3 a la sombra del parasol (del tama\u00f1o de una cancha de tenis) de Webb a unos 90 grados Kelvin. Para poder realizar los estudios cient\u00edficos la temperatura se rebaj\u00f3 mediante el uso de un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jwst.nasa.gov\/content\/about\/innovations\/cryocooler.html\">enfriador criog\u00e9nico alimentado el\u00e9ctricamente<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/jpl\/webb-telescope-s-coldest-instrument-reaches-operating-temperature\">menos de 7 Kelvin<\/a>, solo unos pocos grados por encima de la temperatura m\u00e1s baja que puede alcanzar la materia. Esta temperatura de funcionamiento tan extrema permite que el MIRI proporcione im\u00e1genes y espectros de infrarrojo medio con una calidad sin precedentes de nitidez y sensibilidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEstamos encantados de que el MIRI ya sea un instrumento funcional y de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n con todas sus capacidades mejor de lo esperado. Nuestro equipo multinacional de puesta en marcha ha hecho un trabajo fant\u00e1stico al preparar al MIRI en tan solo unas pocas semanas. Ahora felicitamos a todas las personas, cient\u00edficos, ingenieros, gerentes, agencias nacionales, ESA y NASA, que han hecho realidad este instrumento.
