El par est\u00e1 en la galaxia espiral brillante, distorsionada y formadora de estrellas NGC 2445 que se ve a la derecha, junto con su compa\u00f1era menos llamativa, NGC 2444 a la izquierda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los astr\u00f3nomos sugieren que las galaxias se cruzaron entre s\u00ed, lo que provoc\u00f3 la formaci\u00f3n estelar de forma peculiar en NGC 2445, donde miles de estrellas cobran vida en el lado derecho de la imagen. Esta galaxia est\u00e1 continuamente generando estrellas porque es rica en gas, que es la materia prima a partir de la cual, se forman las estrellas. La galaxia ha extra\u00eddo gas de NGC 2445, formando el extra\u00f1o tri\u00e1ngulo de estrellas reci\u00e9n formadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abLas simulaciones muestran que las colisiones frontales entre dos galaxias son una manera de formar anillos de nuevas estrellas\u00bb, dijo la astr\u00f3noma Julianne Dalcanton del Center for Computational Astrophysics del Instituto Flatiron en Nueva York y la Universidad de Washington en Seattle. \u201cPor lo tanto, los anillos de formaci\u00f3n estelar no son raros. Sin embargo, lo extra\u00f1o de este sistema es que es un tri\u00e1ngulo de formaci\u00f3n estelar. Parte de la raz\u00f3n de esa forma es que estas galaxias todav\u00eda est\u00e1n muy cerca una de la otra y NGC 2444 todav\u00eda se aferra gravitatoriamente a la otra galaxia. As\u00ed que a\u00fan no est\u00e1n completamente libres la una de la otra, y su inusual interacci\u00f3n est\u00e1 distorsionando el anillo en este tri\u00e1ngulo\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NGC 2444 tambi\u00e9n es responsable de absorber tiras de gas, parecidas a caramelos, de su compa\u00f1era, avivando serpentinas de j\u00f3venes estrellas azules que parecen formar un puente entre las dos galaxias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estas serpentinas se encuentran entre las primeras de lo que parece ser una ola de formaci\u00f3n estelar que comenz\u00f3 en las afueras de NGC 2445 y continu\u00f3 hacia el interior. Los investigadores estiman que las serpentinas de estrellas nacieron hace entre 50 y 100 millones de a\u00f1os. Pero estas estrellas infantiles se est\u00e1n quedando atr\u00e1s a medida que NGC 2445 contin\u00faa alej\u00e1ndose lentamente de NGC 2444.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Las estrellas que no tienen m\u00e1s de 1 mill\u00f3n o 2 millones de a\u00f1os se est\u00e1n formando m\u00e1s cerca del centro de NGC 2445. La aguda nitidez del Hubble revela algunas estrellas individuales. Son las m\u00e1s brillantes y masivas de la galaxia. La mayor\u00eda de las zonas azules brillantes son agrupaciones de estrellas. Las manchas rosadas son c\u00famulos de estrellas j\u00f3venes y gigantes que todav\u00eda est\u00e1n envueltas en polvo y gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aunque la mayor parte de la acci\u00f3n ocurre en NGC 2445, no significa que la otra mitad de la pareja que interact\u00faa, haya escapado ilesa. La lucha gravitacional ha estirado a NGC 2444 en una forma extra\u00f1a. La galaxia contiene estrellas viejas y no posee nacimientos estelares recientes porque perdi\u00f3 su gas hace mucho tiempo, mucho antes de este encuentro gal\u00e1ctico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEste es un ejemplo del tipo de interacciones que ocurrieron hace mucho tiempo.
